Created by Shunu Records

We're Rocket Miner, a Chicago-based post-rock band born in 2011, and we would like to press the LP for our third album.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Last boxes almost there, and the new Kickstarter
over 4 years ago – Mon, Aug 05, 2019 at 02:30:31 PM

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to tell you that the shipment to the U.S. has finally reached Chicago a few days ago, and today the boxes were dropped at USPS office! So expect them to arrive in the next few days!

We've sent everybody their tracking code, but since we had to hand copy 20 long numbers from a printed receipt mistakes might have been made! So if you found one, do not hesitate to check with me at [email protected] !

Now, as I've anticipated you in our last update, we've launched a new Kickstarter for an amazing post-rock/post-metal/progressive album called "2001" by The Kompressor Experiment. The band with this album wants to give "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick a brand new soundtrack.

The Kickstarter went GREAT and we are now at 90% of our goal with 3 days left! So if you want to grab yourself a nice, innovative double-LP, just head to the new project at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shunurecords/the-kompressor-experiment-2001-double-lp

And that's all! As usual, you can reach me whenever you want if you have issues with your order, if you have questions, or if you just want to say hello :) [email protected]

Bye and thank you once more!

Fulfilled! Download codes and future of Shunu
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Jul 14, 2019 at 09:51:57 PM

We’re done, guys and girls!

The parcels, just before getting rolled in bubble-wrap and boxed. (address redacted)
The parcels, just before getting rolled in bubble-wrap and boxed. (address redacted)

It’s been quite an adventure and quite a story, with investigations for missing persons, drama and plot-twists, but we’ve finally passed the finish goal!

All the backers in Europe have received already or should be receiving very soon their record (3-4 days), while the records for the US backers are on their way to Chicago, where they'll be individually shipped to your addresses.

There won't be any tracking code as far as I know, but we'll be able to check the status of the travel between Firenze and Chicago, which should take a week or two.

We have materially finished everything we had to do, but be assured you'll find us available nonetheless for any question or issue that should arise! Just write me at [email protected] and I'll do my best to help you out.

DOWNLOAD CODES

I've got a few questions, so maybe it's better if I write it in an official update: the download codes ARE NOT in the record, but they've been emailed to you via Backerkit. This happened more than a month ago, so if you haven't received your code yet, please check your inbox for any Backerkit communication regarding digital goods. If you still can't find it, just drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll fix a brand new code for you.

FUTURE OF SHUNU RECORDS

"The Long Goodbye" is incoming to all of you, so this also means we will soon start promoting and distributing the record in the stores! The album has already got some traction on a couple of magazines here in Italy, so follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/shunurecords) if you want to know more!

And, last but not least, we're very close to debuting our second Kickstarter: it's about a double-LP by The Kompressor Experiment called "2001"!

The album is inspired by Kubrick's sci-fi masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey": the band loved the movie so much that they decided to write from scratch a brand new post-rock/progressive/metal OST for the movie! So much that they play their lives with the film rolling behind their backs.

The album will be released on October 25th, but it will debut here on Kickstarter for the funding campaign in favour of the CD and LP printing expenses.

In the meanwhile, you can listen to the very special EP we prepared for this KS with three tracks: one straight from the album, the second it's an album track in a live version, and the third is an unrecorded, never released before demo.

So... what else to say, rather than a big, huge, ginormous, heartfelt and warm

THANK YOU

to all you guys who made this record possible. You're the best.

I hope you'll love "The Long Goodbye" at least as much as we do.

Partial beginning of fulfilment and another issue that came our way.
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jun 18, 2019 at 05:12:54 PM

Hello everyone!

I want to start this update with (finally!) some good news: we've started a partial fulfilment of the orders! Right now we shipped all EU orders with no shirts included, so you should have received your tracking code already. If you haven't, and believe there was a mistake on our side, please reach to me at [email protected] .

On the shirts side, we only received last week the last surveys, and we needed them to get the right sizes for the backers, so probably within next week we should be able to start shipping out the rest of the boxes!

Now, regarding the bad news...

GZ Media shipped us the replacement records for the broken ones that we mentioned in an earlier update. Unfortunately, the courier held the packages "captive" for almost two weeks! We tried every day to reach for them and get our records back, but until this afternoon we had no way to get this fixed.

When we finally met with the driver, our boxes appeared this way... again:

I think you can easily imagine the look on my face when I saw these boxes... This has been a neverending nightmare and it doesn't seem to end now.

Anyways, there should be enough safe records to get them shipped to you. I will check them thoroughly to make sure you'll get a perfect copy.

Bye for now,

/Matteo, Shunu Records and Rocket Miner.

Locking orders!
almost 5 years ago – Mon, May 20, 2019 at 11:56:40 AM

Hey everybody!

We're going to lock all the orders in the next few days: this means you won't be able to change, or add items to your orders. We need to do this in order to get ready for shipping the records, since we're getting close to our deadline. You should be still able to change your shipping address, in case you move or you need to change the destination of your package. Additionally, if you need, you can still write me at my email address [email protected] and I'll do my best to help you.

Regarding the status of the records (if you've read my last, long update you'll know the records have been shipped back to GZ to let them check on the flawed records) we have no news from GZ yet, but we're confident we'll be able to get the records back in time for our June deadline.

Thank you all,

/Matteo, Shunu Records and Rocket Miner.

A big hit.
almost 5 years ago – Fri, May 10, 2019 at 06:26:44 AM

I am sorry if I’ve been silent recently, but things have happened quite quickly and I couldn’t find the words to talk with you all. Let’s start from the beginning, though. At the end of the week before the last one (24th of April) we’ve finally received the records. Maybe some of you guys follow us on our Facebook page so have seen it already. The records are beautiful, and they sound great! Here’s a photo from that day:

So, we started preparing the logistics, marketing and what not in order to get the records ready to get shipped to your homes.

Then the first, small issue happened. We streamed the whole playing of the record live on our Facebook page. We put the record on our turntable, turned our cameras on, and filmed the whole hifi playthrough of the record. We were getting really hyped about posting the video of the playthrough here to you dear backers as well, but Facebook decided that we were infringing our own copyright, and so it took the audio of that video down. I’ve talked to Facebook business care, but it’s been a week and they haven’t restored the video yet.

In the meanwhile, we shipped the band’s copies to the U.S. (NOT the backers rewards, but the copies that the band will sell at gigs) and we gave a couple of records to local collaborators, to RadiciMusic (our head label) and so on.  One of these friends opened his copy, and was shocked to see that his record was damaged to the edges.  We promptly replaced his copy, but also the new copy presented the same problem. Here’s a photo of it:

We started getting honestly upset and worried. All the copies are shrink-wrapped, so what should we do? Open them all to check them and send away copies with no wrapping protection?

We called the factory, and they said they’ve never seen something like this, and that they will control and replace all the copies. So now all of our copies of the record are on the way back to the factory, but we have no idea when we will get them back.

So the week begun with us unable to show you the record first, and then the discovery of the flaw. But it wasn't over yet.Because the records reached Rocket Miner in the U.S.

What follows is, to me, still difficult to process.

This is how the box (that left our office in a pristine condition) reached Chicago:

All of the 120 records we shipped are damaged. [Again, just to reassure you, THESE ARE NOT THE BACKERS REWARDS. Your rewards are still in the EU. These were the band's own copies.] I honestly have no idea how something like this is even supposed to happen. We’ve been shipping records around the world for more than 5 years of Shunu Records life, and almost 20 if we count RadiciMusic Records in as well.

We insured the shipping and the goods, but we have no idea when and IF we will ever see the money back. This is a huge blow to us, and to me personally. Seeing almost 6 months of work destroyed like this was very hard, even worse since it arrived back to back with the other terrible news of the flawed records.

I’m still feeling shattered by this. Working with music is not about money, or making a living,  at least it’s never been like that for me. Shunu is my life and passion, and seeing the products of my love and sweat and sleepless nights gone in the trashcan like this is heartbreaking and devastating.

The band is right now double-checking the records to see if we can at least save the pressings, and just print the covers again, so hopefully we can find a way out of this mess, but this is something none of us would have wanted to see, EVER! Neither it is opening a record and finding sawtoothed discs.

So, in conclusion, we are waiting for GZ Media to come back to us regarding when the records will come back, so that we can ship them to you. Hopefully, with a bit of luck, we can still make it for the early-June deadline. I will update you all as soon as I have news.

A heartbroken Matteo and Shunu Records.
